You may notice several transmission options listed in addition to simply Manual or Automatic when selecting your vehicle on FCP Euro. This is because many European vehicles were offered with multiple transmission variants, even within the same model year. The transmission installed can vary based on the model, engine, production date, or manufacturer.
Selecting the correct transmission is important, as choosing the wrong option may display parts that are not compatible with your vehicle.
A common example is the 2002 BMW E46 325i, which was available with two different automatic transmissions: one manufactured by ZF and another by GM. Although both are automatic transmissions, many of their service and replacement parts are different.
In most cases, the transmission manufacturer and identification number can be found on an identification plate attached to the transmission housing on the underside of the vehicle. If you're unable to identify your transmission, our Technical Support team can decode your VIN and help you select the correct option before ordering.
