Ignition and door lock cylinders are typically available in one of two configurations:
Coded with Key
These cylinders come pre-coded with a matching set of keys. Installation is generally straightforward, as the cylinder is ready to use with the included keys. Depending on your vehicle, additional immobilizer or anti-theft system programming may still be required.
Coded to Your Existing Key
These cylinders are supplied without keys and are manufactured to match your vehicle's existing key.
If you order one of these cylinders, our fulfillment team may contact you to request proof of ownership, such as a copy of your vehicle registration or title. The vehicle manufacturer will use this information to verify ownership and retrieve the appropriate key code before producing a cylinder that matches your existing key.
For security reasons, many European manufacturers do not make key codes available through standard VIN lookups or parts catalogs. The key code must be retrieved directly from the manufacturer after ownership has been verified. Because of these security requirements, this process cannot be bypassed.
