Are ceramic brake pads a good choice for my vehicle?
Ceramic brake pads—such as those made by Akebono and TRW—are excellent choices for most road-going vehicles. They provide strong, reliable stopping power while producing very little brake dust and operating quietly, making them ideal for everyday driving and clean wheels.
However, if your vehicle originally came equipped with semi-metallic brake pads, you may notice a slight difference in feel. Ceramic pads typically have less initial bite (the sharp grab at the top of the brake pedal), but they will stop your vehicle in the same overall distance—you’ll just apply a bit more pedal pressure to achieve it.
